otherwise also known as konpeito, a japanese hard candy. introduced into the japanese culture in the 15th or 16th century by the portuguese, the production process for these candies are labour-intensive since they are hand-made and take 7-10 days!

mmm! but this sugared candy made dash feel like hammy the squirrel from over the hedge :) *wheeeeee!*

rumi invited this manga artist for a talk to the students this sept.

he IS talented! and one of his trademark little doodles is to draw himself on the shoulder of his handdrawn characters :D peeping from behind and looking at the readers! :D kekek

when an otaku stands up to a drunken lout who was bullying a group of ladies on the train, one of the them gave him a set of hermes cups to thank him. and from then on, a romance looks set to blossom ... except the otaku has no idea on how to date.

hence he looks to his online chatroom friends for advice and encouragement. it is the little nuggets of advice from the online community e.g. how he should dress for the first date, what time he should be there, what place to eat at, how to follow-up on a date, and even how to make a phone call to hermes girl, what to say etc, that made the quick glances through the pages of this book rather enjoyable : )

yep, at the end of the day, the otaku marries hermes girl ^_^ yay!

oodles of spinach fettucine!

we got these oodles of freshly made spinach fettucine from da pablo, the same place we got the quiche : )

we made a good bowl of pasta with the pesto sauce -- and it was really tasty!

with the side dishes of butternut squash and pinenuts splashed with olive oil, and a plate of dumplings and balsamic vinegar dip, i think we really cooked up a good storm! : )

the duck sure looked happy --

dash is sure that no one is going to have it for dinner!

"waterboys"

this is a hilariously entertaining movie about a group of 5 high school boys who are determined to become synchronised swimmers, either to prove themselves, to impress the new pretty swimming coach, to learn how to swim and/or to get close to another boy :)


the music is excellent, with lots of groovy tunes and happy cheery lyrics, albeit in japanese.

dash especially loves one of the songs that sang of how "you know you sparkle when you are in love!" mmm! :D



of course, their team of 5 had a huge influx of volunteers when the boys in their high school realised that the swimming meet was going to be at a girls' high school swimming pool. kekek :D




and yep, the boy got the girl. awww!
and the other boy got his boy too ;)
