erm, ... how come the last penguin...
has a different patterned chest colour distribution? is it a mock penguin? or a seagull wearing a halloween costume? *hmrf. weird. i smell something fishy*

swiss cannabis iced tea drink
dash found this strange swiss cannabis iced tea drink while journeying in switzerland in 2006. the slogan for the drink was "feel free!"
though tasty, there was however nothing psychedelic about the aftereffects of the drink. turns out that one of the ingredients was hemp, the non-psychoactive drug. hee! for 2 swiss francs, it was still a nice black tea drink : )
...urm, there are penguins everywhere!
after dash's dreams about hundreds of penguins with their yellow parachutes making airborne landings into the bedroom, things were never quite the same.
in fact, even the popcorn machine looks like one! O_O

yes, quentin blake, the illustrator for roald dahl's book is publishing a new collection - this time, not for children, but for the elderly : ) in his interview with uk's telegraph, blake shared about his quirky processes of drawing, "I do pull faces when I am drawing, in order to find out how the expressions feel, but I don’t do it in a mirror.” :)
yep, dash makes the faces too when trying to achieve a particular expression on her sketches - it works! :D
quiche and moomins on a sunday afternoon
absolutely smittened with the spinach quiche from da paolo!
especially on a lazy sunday afternoon and in the genial company of a moomin book ^_^
popping kernels
the crisp sound of freshly popped kernels of corns can often be heard in our kitchen.
and after bringing the multiplicity of kernels into one singular bowl, a twist or two of salt and melted butter drizzled on the popcorn makes this snack a congenial companion for our movie-watching in the evenings : )

must-ha(ve) pasta!
ilya cooked this wholewheat fusilli pasta with tomato and garlic-based sauce for dinner. since we had fresh basil leaves in the fridge, we cheerfully added them to the sauce as well : ) dash contributed a simple dish of asparagus with salt and pepper to go with the pasta : ) and with a glass of beer each, dinner was AHHHHHHH! :D a hearty italian meal should never go without dessert! so we each had a well-rounded scoop of ben and jerry's dublin mudslide ^_^

"get shorty"
chilli palmer, played by john travolta, decided to switch careers from mob business to show business. and then found out that show business is just the same, if not worse. hence his line in the movie, "Rough business, this movie business. I'm gonna have to go back to loan-sharking just to take a rest." :Dbased on the novel by elmore leonard, who writes thriller detective novels, this movie adaptation is witty in its many references to the actors' other movies, other famous (real and fictional) movies and of the movie industry itself. e.g. how big movie stars never order from the menu, and would make up their own, often unappetising, recipes. ewwww. egg white omelettes with no salt?! =_= and the newspapers' headlines of how the new movie "napolean", starring danny devitto, "stands up tall in the movie box office" :D
and of course, "attitude plays a part." : ) so when various characters in the movie say, "look at me", it was chilli palmer with his years of being shylock and mob experiences who can make it work. mmm! :D
french crepes!
ilya found this really brilliant crepe place at prinsep street just down the road fom our place.run by a french chef, the pictures on the wall and the decorations created a cheery ambience of being at a seaside town. and both his savoury and dessert crepes are simply lovely delectable creations!
we recommend that you go as a group and get different things on the menu so that you can try a variety of crepes. and oh, leave room for the caramel and sea salt dessert crepes! :D

oodles of vietnamese-styled summer/spring rolls! : ) dash did a quick google, and found that some recipes call these rolls by different seasonal names - either spring rolls, summer rolls or even fresh rolls.
But interestingly enough, not autumn or winter rolls. Hmm. crunchy rolls would have been dash's preferred name for the dish if not for the fact that it is already used by another site for anime downloads. *oh well*

"the cute scent of oranges"
this nail polish remover leaves a cute scent of oranges on dash's nails : ) love it!
of course, the price is about 300% of the usual basic nail polish remover. but ah well, dash was held hostage by the promise of the cute scent of oranges!
