Dash's Favourite Word of the Day: Nomenclature

This morning, Dash was trying to figure out how to change the signature file that is embedded in her email text when a colleague referred her to a folder on an electronic knowledge management system. Upon opening the folder, Dash saw a file that was named "Nomenclature".

Eh? Nomenclature?

Dash's initial wild guess was that the contents of the folder must be only for the female eyes since "no -men" are to be allowed. Perhaps a feminist manifesto has been wrongly placed in this folder? And at that point in time, Dash wished she could call a Farber to ask - After all if anyone in the secular world can read Latin, it has to be a Farber! Annika can probably even make accurate dating of the Latin word's origin!

Oh well, since no Farbers were available at such short notice, Dash had no choice but to venture into the unknown. And so, curiously and gingerly, Dash clicked on the file ... However in a rather anti-climatic fashion, Dash realised it was merely a document that stated how each line of the standard email signature should be worded. Oh. Hrmm. Oh well.

Disppointed, Dash did a quick googling of the word, and found that it actually referred to the system of naming.

Nonetheless, this is still such a cool (and arcane) word to have in one's vocabulary : ) Nomenclature. Ahhhh! Can you imaagine going up to a colleague, looking at her volumes of files on the desk, and remarking carelessly, "I like the nomenclature of your filing system." :D

on a sugar high

:D The little cow belongs to Theo, I believe. The little cow's name is Mumu Cow and Dash understands that she totally adores sugar : )

Here, Mumu Cow holds onto her sachet of sugar from MacDonalds and looks upon a sugar roll Dash gave to her colleagues as a farewell snack : )

So why is Dash now in love with Kinder Bueno's white chocolate?

1. The onomatopoeia of the name "Kinder Bueno" reminds Dash of a "get-set and bounce!" action sequence : )

2. Dash likes hazelnuts - whether in ice-cream, as a syrup in coffee, or as a nut on desserts or snacks to nibble on. And the hazelnut creamy filling in the wafer draws Dash inevitably and naturally towards liking it : )

3. Dash likes white chocolate. With this new version of the Kinder Bueno having white chocolate covering the wafer, Dash applaud the chocolate-maker for giving the white chocolate enthusiasts something to cheer for! : )

4. It comes in four easy bite-size chunks. Nifty : )

5. The little chocolate balls that coat the stripes or belts on the chocolate bars pushes the fun index upwards. One would often have to play a game of hide and seek with them after munching since some would make an escape onto one's plate or shirt : )

Now, if only there is a similar version for the Kinder Happy Hippo ^_^ or in the form of polar bears or penguins!

why do all the interesting characters have to die?!

Dash is rather piqued at the fact that all the interesting characters die in the movie "Highlander: Endgame". Now, what kind of scriptwriting is that?!

Dash likes the Donnie Yen's character, Jin Ke.

As the immortal with *really* nifty martial arts moves, he also obviously has a thinking head on his shoulder, making astute reflections on his boss' behaviour and values. (Though the learning lesson from his fate seems to be - when making such remarks, do not think aloud.)

Dash also likes the character of Kate MacLeod, wife of Duncan MacLeod.

Her anger at Duncan for not giving her a choice to stay mortal or become an immortal, and her efforts to better understand herself and the consequences of her immortality in terms of building relationships over the centuries, all made her much more interesting.

Dash also thought the melodramatic way the character of Jacob Kell speaks is so apt for his angst-ridden personality and history.

In one night, he witch-hunted the mother of his friend Conner MacLeod; and then watched his religious leader who is also a father figure to him fatally wounded by Connor, followed by the shock of his own death and awakening. No wonder all the wires in his character are jumbled! Still, the dramatic delivery of his lines often bemused Dash : )

Of course, they all had to be killed to increase the quotient of angst in the movie. Oh well. Great.

So, if you have a penchant to watch interesting characters get slayed, this movie would be excellent.

dash totally loved this song since she first heard it in laura's car two months ago! dash likes the light tune and how the song lyrics make one reflect on the various and different puff the magic dragons we have all left behind on the many grey nights.

dash's japanese roommate rumi was the one who helped dash to put on this yukata - wah, with the many layers and strings, it takes skills to wrap the yukata! rumi is good! :D

and so many of them have a temporary abode in dash's home for now. it's so great to see them all perched on different parts of the furniture, peeking out here and there, lounged on the armrest , hanging from shelves :D
