[Rabbit Two here thinks that a genesis of the Rabbits' adventures with Mr Cheng may be necessary for historical records. So posted here are the first inklings of how it all began... ]
On a day before Valentine's Day in 2003, the Rabbits were egging Mr Cheng to declare his love for Teacher. Helpful suggestions on how to write the love letter then flew about in emails...
At 2:29pm, Rabbit Two first suggested the following opening for Mr Cheng's love letter to Cher:
"Everyday I see you float around and everyday my heart jumps when you speak to me... "
At 2: 37pm, Rabbit One advised, "No good, must be poetic" and suggested the following:
"When you float,
My heart bloats.
When you wear my coat,
We watch stars on the love boat."
At 2:51pm, Mr Cheng replies in poetry - and this also marked the first time Rabbits realised that Mr Cheng, when he has love in his heart, can make interesting poetry:
"Rabbits perk up when their master/teacher floats by
Their whiskers twitter and their hearts stutter
Collectively they heave a sigh
When the danger passes
To forget their anxieties, their creative energies
are spent wishing for a saviour
that will transform their teacher."
At 2:58pm, Rabbit Three quipped:
"We know you are OUR saviour
That's why we are trying so hard in this area
To make you fall in love with our teacher,
so that we rabbits' whiskers need twit no longer
And can enjoy life a bit longer!"
[Rabbit Two also pointed out to Mr Cheng that "hearts flutter, not stutter".]
At 3:02pm, Mr Cheng composed a pseudo-evangelising poem to Rabbits:
"Dear Rabbits,
There can only be one Saviour
He will transform our hearts so that
there will be no more fear
No more 'stuttering'* hearts when He is in us.
* Poetic license has been granted"
At 3:08pm, Rabbit Three stopped Mr Cheng from trying to change the subject:
"Dear Tai Chin,
We are not talking about JESUS here,
If so, you won't qualify, which is obvious.
We are talking about the Saviour of rabbits here,
And you, the chosen ONE, is our saviour.
We rabbits have suffered long
It was a miracle that you came along!
So, don't disappoint us anymore
Go do something on V-day tomorrow
so that we will suffer no more!"
